Sun Rise Trek up Mount Batur: Is it for you? #BALI

My Fitness level: Not great, but not bad- Moderate
Overall experience: Worth it ★★★★
Hiking Duration: 4-6 hours

I was skimming through Instagram one day, and saw that a cousin posted a breathtaking view in Bali. As I already had plans to go to Bali, I thought- YES, definitely going there for a photo! ….Yet did I know, Mount Batur Volcano was going to be a slipping, stumbling, painful journey to the most beautiful sun rise I have ever seen!

The low down: I freaked out at least 3-4 times while walking up and even had thoughts of going back down.

Things to make sure to prepare before hand:

  • Get a Balinese guide
  • A torch
  • A stick if you’re fitness level is moderate
  • Hiking or sports shoe: Wear proper shoes!!!
  • A back pack or waist bag, depending on what your comfortable with

My itinerary:
1.30am: pick up from my Seminyak hotel
4.00am: Arrived at starting point in Toyabungkah Village
4.15am: Trek started up Mount Batur with our Balinese guide
6.00am: Reached the top of Mount Batur at the sunrise point
8.00am: Began our trek back down
9.30am: Reached back to our car to make our way back
11am: reached Ubud

No no’s: if your not fit, or someone who is with you is not, I do not recommend it.
Anyways, Don’t forget to tip your guide and say Terima Kasih!
